Can we talk a bit about Matthew and Jessilyn’s wedding at Rolling Rails Lodge near State College, PA and how absolutely legendary it was?! I knew this was going to be one for the ages from the time I met these two love birds! I feel like it was destiny that we met up…at one point during the wedding, Ashley, the groom’s WHOA-MAN, exclaimed “I can definitely see why they chose you as the photographer!” after I said something that is better left unsaid here on the internet. I love making a connection to the people that I photograph…the stranger the better is pretty typical, haha!
We had plans to create sunset photographs but mother nature had other plans for us and welcomed us with rain just after their beautiful outdoor ceremony that overlook the folds of the Appalachian Mountains. I decided to create a double-exposure photograph instead…and I love the result! I photographed the couple up against the side of the lodge and then took a quick zoomed long exposure photo from inside of the reception over the dance floor. See the bright area just above their heads? That is the chandelier from inside and the other ceiling lights that were strung up along the rafters are just below. The light smears are created by zooming my lens during the 1/5 of a second exposure.
I can’t wait to share more from their wedding day this week…make sure you stay locked here to see more from their wedding day!
